In 2014, 28% of all mathematics theses were defended by women graduates, while only 20.9% of all research positions in the CNRS (Junior or Senior scientists) and in universities (as Lecturers or Professors) are held by women.

The Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) develops three main programs within the geographic areas of its activities: Africa, Central and South America, Asia. They are the CIMPA Research Schools, the Support for Training in Research program and the Short-Term Thematic funding program.

- 21 CIMPA Research Schools will be held in 2019. Check the list here and click on "list" for details and registration.

On International Women's Day, the Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) published the video "Faces of women in mathematics": 146 clips featuring 243 women in mathematics from 36 countries speaking 31 different languages.

The French mathematician Raphaèle Herbin is awarded the 2017 CNRS Medal of Innovation
