Coming to France as a student

A large choice of Master degrees is available, from the most theoretical aspects of mathematics to various applications, scientific calculus, statistics, imaging processes etc.

Check the Master's map to pick the master of your dreams!

Funding options: various possibilities

  • Mathematics departments offer financial support and grants to follow Masters courses, mostly through the LabEx scheme: check the LabEx website for grants in your subject area!
  • The Ecoles Normales Supérieures (Paris, Lyon, Cachan, Rennes) and the Ecole polytechnique are competitive institutions which provide support to promising students from all over the world. Take a look! Perhaps you would be eligible?

PhD positions and funding

French research laboratories are keen to host PhD students. Check the list !

Your professors and their contacts in France can help you look for the most suitable grant for you, whether it is financed by a university, a LabeX, the National Research Agency (ANR), ERC funding, or other providers (see for example the CIFRE-PhD initiative where the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research grants money to private companies to employ a PhD student).

You can also come in France in the frame of a co-tutelle agreement between your own university and a French one.
