PIMS Announces PIMS-Europe Fellowships

The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), the international joint unit of the CNRS in Vancouver (Canada), is announcing a new program, the PIMS-Europe Fellowships, with the goal of developing and supporting research collaborations between mathematical scientists at PIMS member universities and researchers across France. 

Fellowship awardees will receive CAD $5,000 to facilitate long-term visits (2 months or more) to France.

The French Embassy to the Russian Federation's Metchnikov program

The French Embassy to the Russian Federation awards fellowships to Russian researchers of any scientific discipline to develop and support research collaborations with French research teams within a higher education or research organisation or a enterprise.

Duration: 1 to 3 months.

Application deadline: September 13th, 2018.

Laureates of the 2018 Thematical Prizes of the French Académie des Sciences

PRIZES IN MATHEMATICS

Prix Marc Yor was awarded to Christophe Garban, Professor at Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University and a member of the Institut Camille Jordan (an Ecole centrale de Lyon, université Jean Monnet, CNRS, université Claude Bernard & INSA de Lyon maths lab) for his work in probabilities.

2018 Grands prix of the French Académie des Sciences

Congratulations to our colleagues who were awarded the 2018 Grands prix de l'académie des sciences !

Grand prix Ampère de l’électricité de France  was awarded to Frank Merle, Professor at Cergy-Pontoise University, Cergy-IHES Chair of Analysis, and a member of the "Analysis, geometry and modelization" (AGM) lab (a CNRS&Cergy-Pontoise University maths lab), for his work in PDEs and mathematical physics.

Franco-Japanese calls for proposals

Le CNRS et the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) launch two calls aiming at promoting cooperations and scientific events between French and Japanese laboratories, in all scientific domains.

  • the first one encourages researchers mobility: within a 2-year research project.
  • the second one, named « CNRS-JSPS joint seminars », enables French and Japanese researchers to organise a scientific event of up to 8 days, either in France, or in Japan.

21 Research Schools organized by the CIMPA in 2019

The Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA), founded in France in 1978, is a nonprofit organisation working for the development of mathematics research in developing countries. CIMPA Research Schools is the historical activity of CIMPA, it focuses on areas where there is a real drive to develop mathematics and where there is a scope for a research project.
